Airedale terrier

Breed of large terrier, about 60 cm/24 in tall, with a wiry red-brown coat and black saddle patch. It originated about 1850 in England, as a cross between the otterhound and Irish and Welsh terriers.

The dog takes its name from the Aire and Wharfedale districts of Yorkshire, where it was first bred.
